TNT has decided not to bring back Dallas for a fourth season. The series that was brought back for a new generation after 20 years saw its last episode air on September 22nd, ending tafter only three seasons.
When the show started back up in 2012 it saw some great ratings, reaching over 7 million per episode. Since then the ratings have been on a downward spiral with the series finale generating only 1.7 million. It didn’t help ratings when Larry Hagman, who starred on the original Dallas as well as the new version, passed away in the middle of the second season.
A spokesperson from TNT had this to say on the show’s cancellation, “TNT has decided not to renew Dallas. We are extremely proud of the series, which defied expectations by standing as a worthy continuation of the Ewing saga. We want to thank everyone involved with the show, from the extraordinary cast to the impeccable production team, led by the show’s creative forces, Cynthia Cidre and Mike Robin. We especially want to thank the people of Dallas for their warm and generous hospitality during the production of the series.”
