Tom Hiddleston says Kong: Skull Island will be “spectacular and epic”

April 3, 2016 by Gary Collinson

King Kong is set to return to the big screen next year courtesy of Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures’ Kong: Skull Island, and Tom Hiddleston has been speaking about the upcoming monster movie during a chat with Entertainment Weekly, describing the film as “spectacular and epic.”

“We’re done [filming]. We were in Hawaii, Australia, and Vietnam. And they were all completely different, and eventually they will all look like one homogenous island… Jordan Vogt-Roberts, who directed it, had this extraordinary idea. I don’t want to spoil too much… But it’s a whole new re-conception of the mythology. It essentially follows a group of disparate travelers and explorers and soldiers who travel to an undiscovered island in the South Pacific. And it’s set in a time period where you could conceive that there are still undiscovered places on the earth. What they find on the island is surprising, and then every character has a very different response to it. It’s going to be spectacular and epic, but also the human drama is kind of interesting as well.”

Kong: Skull Island will fully immerse audiences in the mysterious and dangerous home of the king of the apes as a team of explorers ventures deep inside the treacherous, primordial island.

Kong: Skull Island is set for release on March 9th, 2017 with Jordan Vogt-Roberts (The Kings of Summer) directing a cast that includes Tom Hiddleston (High-Rise), Brie Larson (Room), John Goodman (10 Cloverfield Lane), John C. Reilly (The Lobster), Thomas Mann (Me and Girl and the Dying Girl), Corey Hawkins (The Walking Dead), Toby Kebbell (Fantastic Four), Jason Mitchell (Straight Outta Compton), Samuel L. Jackson (Avengers: Age of Ultron), John Ortiz (Silver Linings Playbook) and Shea Whigham (Cop Car).
