Tom Payne replaces Finn Jones in Prodigal Son

March 16, 2019 by Gary Collinson

Earlier this week it was announced that Finn Jones (Iron Fist) had been cast in the lead role in Fox’s new crime drama pilot Prodigal Son, but now comes word that he’s set to be replaced by The Walking Dead’s Tom Payne.

The decision to recast reportedly came after the first table read, with Payne now joining a cast that also includes Michael Sheen (Good Omens), Lou Diamond Phillips (Young Guns), Aurora Perrineau (Jem and the Holograms) and Frank Harts (The Path).

The potential series, created by Deception’s Chris Fedak and Sam Sklaver, will revolve around Payne’s Malcolm Bright, a gifted criminal psychologist who helps the NYPD solve crimes and catch killers while dealing with a manipulative mother, an annoyingly normal sister, and his notorious serial killer father Martin Whitly, a.k.a. The Surgeon (Sheen).
