Back in May, Tom Cruise revealed that Top Gun 2 is finally moving ahead, and now we have word that Paramount has set a release date and director for the sequel to the 1986 box office smash.
The currently untitled Top Gun sequel (it seems that Top Gun: Maverick wasn’t official) is set to hit cinemas on July 12th 2019, one week after Spider-Man: Homecoming 2 and a week before Disney’s remake of The Lion King. Meanwhile, it is also confirmed that Cruise will be reuniting with his Oblivion director Joseph Kosinski, who had been previously rumoured to be front runner to helm the sequel.
