Searchlight Pictures has released a poster and trailer for director Stephen Williams’ biographical drama Chevalier.
Inspired by the true story of Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de Saint-Georges, the film stars Kelvin Harrison Jr. as the composer and violinist and follows his story from his rise through French society, his complicated love life, and falling out with Marie Antoinette (Lucy Boynton). The illegitimate son of an African slave and a French plantation owner, Bologne (Kelvin Harrison Jr. in a tour de force performance) rises to improbable heights in French society as a celebrated violinist-composer and fencer, complete with an ill-fated love affair and a falling out with Marie Antoinette (Lucy Boynton) and her court.
Featuring in the cast of Chevalier are Kelvin Harrison Jr., Samara Weaving, Lucy Boynton, Marton Csokas, Alex Fitzalan, and Minnie Driver.
Chevalier arrives in cinemas on April 7th.
