WWII drama Goebbels and the Führer gets a trailer and poster

September 1, 2024 by Gary Collinson

Samuel Goldwyn Films has released a poster and trailer for Goebbels and the Führer, a World War II drama from writer-director Joachim A. Lang (Mack The Knife – Brecht’s Threepenny Film), which tells the story of the rise and fall of Adolf Hitler’s infamous Minister of Propaganda, Joseph Goebbels.

Starring Robert Stadlober (Andrea Gets a Divorce, Summer Storm), Franziska Weisz (The Swarm, Stations of the Cross), and Fritz Karl (Sisi, The Silent Mountain), the film follows Goebbels’ rise to power through to the final days in Hitler’s Berlin bunker, where Goebbels and his wife plot the murder of their children and their own suicide. Watch the trailer below…

Goebbels and the Führer follows Joseph Goebbels in his last seven years by Hitler’s side. While Hitler is at the height of his power, Goebbels is the creator of the pictures of the flag-waving crowds and of the anti-Semitic films “Jud Süß” and “Der ewige Jude”, preparing the people for the mass murder of the Jews. After the defeat at Stalingrad and the situation becoming increasingly hopeless in late 1944, Goebbels plans the most radical propaganda act, his last staging, with Hitler’s suicide, the murder of his family and his own suicide.

Goebbels and the Führer is set for release in theaters and on digital on October 4th.
