Paramount Pictures is stepping up the pace on its planned Transformers and G.I. Joe crossover movie, with THR reporting that screenwriter Derek Connolly (Jurassic World) is set to write the script for the Hasbro mashup.
A frequent collaborator of filmmaker Colin Trevorrow, Connolly made his debut with Trevorrow’s Safety Not Guaranteed and worked with the director and producer on Jurassic World, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, and the original abandoned pre-J.J. Abrams version of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. His other credits include Kong: Skull Island, Pokemon: Detective Pikachu and Sony and Nintendo’s upcoming The Legend of Zelda movie.
While the crossover movie is yet to attach a director, or receive an actual green light from the studio, it seems that development is now kicking up a gear after it was reported a few weeks back that Paramount had entered talks with Chris Hemsworth about starring in the film.

Paramount set up the long-anticipated big screen crossover between the two iconic 80s toy brands with last year’s Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, which saw Anthony Ramos’ character receiving an invite to join the covert special forces unit. So far, there’s been no indication as to whether we can expect to see Ramos returning to the cast, or whether the crossover will even end up existing in the same rebooted Transformers canon established by Bumblebee and Rise of the Beasts.
