Transformers: Battle for Cybertron Slot Review

March 16, 2017 by Gary Collinson

The 1980s has proven to be something of a golden era for kids TV. Transformers has clearly stood the test of time, and remains popular to this day, amongst fans of the original as well as entirely new generations. Stemming from a TV show originally, the concept has been well franchised, including through a series of more recent filma and comic books, which have helped return Transformers to public consciousness. Of course, it was only a matter of time before this was harnessed by leading slots developer IGT, and Transformers: Battle for Cybertron is the result.

This slots game has been around for a while now, but remains one of the leading titles in the IGT catalogue. As developers, IGT have been known to put out some fairly basic games, just in terms of the graphics and the in-game features. Fortunately, they seem to have thrown all caution to the wind with their Transformers slot, which combines excellent graphics and character features with decent in-game elements that appeal to slots fans more broadly and this is the reason why all leading casinos have this game. A spokesperson from partycasino has said “slots themed on blockbuster films, for example, Spider-Man and The Incredible Hulk are always very popular and Transformers is no different – It is in our top 5 most actively played slots”. You can find Transformers at their online slots page along with many other movie themed games.

The 5 reels and 40 paylines give this a familiar feel for anyone who is used to playing slots. But with impressive graphics, an epic soundtrack, and some neatly themed bonus and feature symbols tying the Transformers concept together, this is one good versus evil battle you won’t want to miss.

The payout percentage, or RTP, ranges up as high as 96.47%, amongst the top tier of slots games you’re likely to find by payout. And when you consider you’re playing for a potential 4000x jackpot, there are plenty of reasons to try your hand at Transformers: Battle for Cybertron.

The Cybertron planet symbol is the game’s primary scatter symbol. When you trigger three or more of these on your reels, you’re in line for a number of free spins. At this stage, players are invited to choose their robot, which will give a corresponding number of free spins and multipliers, ranging from Megatron with 5 free spins and up to 10x multiplier, through to Bumblebee with 15 free spins and up to a 4x multiplier.

The Purple Cube – This is the wild symbol, which subs in place for anything you are missing to complete an active payline. These are pretty handy in this game, particularly when you factor in the freefall reels, which give an added incentive to match symbols with each spin. When you do, the symbols tumble downwards, giving you the potential to win on multiple occasions from a single spin.

The Transformers Logo – This is the most valuable symbol on the board, and the one that contributes to the biggest wins when you line it up on your payline. The jackpot is won by lining up 5 Transformer logos across your screen, for a payout of 4000x your coin stake.

The Jackpot

The 4000x jackpot is pretty decent for a non-progressive game, and you’ll want to be lining up 5 Transformer symbols to get your hands on the prize. Even if you come up with 4 symbols, you’ll still be in line for a very generous win at 400x.

Arguably the biggest special feature here is the freefall reels. Whenever you complete a winning combination, the symbols disappear from the reels, leaving those above to fall down into the vacant spaces. This means that every time you win, you’re essentially getting another free spin – or at least, another chance to make winning combinations from the symbols as they fall.

Transformers: Battle for Cybertron takes the Transformers theme and runs with it, creating a great slots game that is fun to play with decent payouts. There’s more to this game than you’d expect from a slots title, and in that respect, IGT have set their own bar even higher than usual. The RTP is pretty good, and the in-game features will keep you constantly returning to spin time after time.
