DreamWorks Animation has announced the voice cast for Trolls 2, with Sam Rockwell (Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri), Jamie Dornan (Fifty Shades of Grey) and Chance the Rapper (Slice) boarding the sequel to the 2016 animated family film.
Reprising their roles from the first movie are Anna Kendrick (Poppy), Justin Timberlake (Branch), James Corden (Biggie), Caroline Hjelt (Chenille), Aino Jawo (Satin), Ron Funches (Cooper) and Kunal Nayyar (Guy Diamond). Anthony Ramos (Hamilton), Karan Soni (Deadpool 2) and Flula Borg (Pitch Perfect 2) have also joined the voice cast.
Trolls 2 is being directed by Walt Dohrn and co-director David P. Smith, and will apparently expand the musical genres, covering everything from pop, country, and hip-hop to hard rock, funk, and EDM. The official synopsis reads:
“Queen Poppy and Branch make a surprising discovery — there are other Troll worlds beyond their own, and their distinct differences create big clashes between these various tribes. When a mysterious threat puts all of the Trolls across the land in danger, Poppy, Branch, and their band of friends must embark on an epic quest to create harmony among the feuding Trolls to unite them against certain doom.”
Trolls 2 is set for release in April 2020. The first movie grossed $346 million worldwide back in 2016, and spawned the TV special Trolls Holiday along with the Netflix series Trolls: The Beat Goes On!
