Ever wondered what the world of True Detective would be like from the mind of Barry Jenkins? If you add in Tigers Are Not Afraid’s Issa Lopez, you’ll see what we will be cooking with for the upcoming fourth instalment.
Sources report that True Detective season four is currently in development, and Barry Jenkins will team with Issa Lopez to bring it to life. The season is tentatively titled True Detective: Night Country.
Lopez will pen with the script and direct the pilot in addition to serving as an exec producer. Jenkins is on board as executive producer and will likely play a role in bringing in the big-name talent needed for a True Detective season.
Jenkins signed an overall deal to HBO last April after a few years at Amazon. He’ll produce e via his Pastel banner alongside Adele Romanski and Mark Ceryak. Series creator Nic Pizzolatto will not be returning, as he left his deal with HBO a while back, and the network owns the rights to the True Detective series. Anonymous Content will again produce.
Season one of the series saw Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson as the leads, season two brought on Colin Farrell, Rachel McAdams, Vince Vaughn, and the third season saw Mahershala Ali as the leading man.
HBO has yet to confirm the news, and there’s no word as to who might potentially star.
