…Marvel is also set to launch another TV show this year with Daredevil, and showrunner Steven S. DeKnight has been speaking about the show, including the tone, the character of Wilson Fisk, a.k.a. The Kingpin, and the chances of Bullseye making an appearance: “I wouldn’t say there’s no plans to include [Bullseye] in the series. It’s not not to say he wouldn’t be in the series at some point. But I think if you try to jam in too many characters, it just becomes a mess. And his story was told in the last iteration of Daredevil that anybody saw. My feeling was, ‘Why repeat it?’ And honestly, if you’re looking for a juicy, multi-faceted crime drama, Wilson Fisk was the obvious choice to play the antagonist. Bullseye is a little more cut and dry. Not to say you couldn’t make him fantastic over 13 hours, but Fisk really felt like the right yin to the yang for Matt, and for what we wanted to do this season.” You can read DeKnights full comments here…
…Having expressed his interest in the role of Luke Cage on numerous occasions, Brooklyn Nine-Nine star Terry Crews has now congratulated Mike Colter (American Horror Story: Coven) on securing the role of Power Man in A.K.A. Jessica Jones: “Congratulations to my man Mike Colter for being cast as LUKE CAGE! A brilliant actor for one of my favorite superheroes ever! Love him..!”
…We knew to expect the ‘Rogue Cut’ of X-Men: Days of Future Past this year, and now Fox’s Home Entertainment EVP James Finn has confirmed that the extended version – which adds in the deleted scenes featuring Anna Paquin’s Rogue – will arrive on Blu-ray this summer. The disc won’t contain the theatrical version of the film, and according to Finn it will be a “distinct film [with] distinct extras. Complimentary to DOFP Blu-ray but not repetitive..”
…Sam Raimi has been reflecting on his time at the helm of the Spider-Man franchise, admitting that he “messed up plenty” when it came to 2007’s disappointing instalment Spider-Man 3: “Each and every one of those Spider-Man movies were pretty damn challenging. I messed up plenty with the third Spider-Man, so people hated me for years — they still hate me for it. It’s a movie that just didn’t work very well. I tried to make it work, but I didn’t really believe in all the characters, so that couldn’t be hidden from people who loved Spider-Man. If the director doesn’t love something, it’s wrong of them to make it when so many other people love it. I think [raising the stakes after Spider-Man 2] was the thinking going into it, and I think that’s what doomed us. I should’ve just stuck with the characters and the relationships and progressed them to the next step and not tried to top the bar… I don’t think ‘bad’ is the right word for it. Awful..!”
…It’s been deathly quiet on the DC Cinematic front over the holiday season, but with Gotham set to return to FOX this Monday, a new promo for ‘Rogue’s Gallery’ has arrived online [see here], while Morena Baccarin (Firefly) has spoken about her role as Dr. Leslie Thompkins, and how the character is set to differ from the comic books: ““I’m a physician. I’m working at Arkham, but we’re not sticking too close to the original mythology. We are having her team up with Jim Gordon instead of the Wayne family and Bruce. Eventually, who knows—it could go in that direction, but it hasn’t yet.” You can read the rest of Baccarin’s comments about her character here…
…Chalk this one up as rumour (or complete bollocks, if you don’t want to sugar coat it), but the UK tabloid The Sun is reporting that former Hollyoaks star Gemma Atkinson is in contention for the role of Kara Zor-El in CBS’ Supergirl TV series. The paper cites a “source close to the actress”, who claims that: “Gemma is a huge fan of comic books so this is something she’d jump at. It will make her huge Stateside. She said next year will be her best yet whatever happens. If she gets Supergirl it will be amazing, or if she begins working on Emmerdale that will be great too.” As it happens, Supergirl casting director David Rapaport has said that “she’s coming soon” with regards to the casting of Kara, so expect this one to be debunked pretty quickly…
