…If you were wondering when we might see Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist making the leap from Netflix to the big screen side of the Cinematic Universe, you may have a few years to wait yet. According to a report this week, The Defenders are set to make an appearance in 2019’s Avengers: Infinity War – Part 2 – although considering the two-part Avengers sequel has only just found its directors and screenwriters, this is another rumour that you can probably file away as guesswork, and I’d certainly recommend taking it with a pinch of salt…
…It looks like the proposed Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. spinoff isn’t the only Marvel show in development at ABC, with Oscar-winning producer John Ridley (12 Years a Slave, American Crime) busy developing a mystery project for the network which “involves reinventing an existing Marvel superhero character or property for ABC.” No further details are available at present, but its said that this is a different project to that of the S.H.I.E.L.D. spinoff; personally, my money is on Cloak & Dagger…
…Sticking with ABC for a moment and you can read our review of this past week’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. episode ‘Melinda’ here, and if you’re wanting a sneak peek at Tuesday’s upcoming episode ‘The Frenemy of My Enemy’, you can take a look at a promo and batch of images here, as well as a promotional poster here…

…During a Q&A this week, Jamie Bell shared a few words on his upcoming role as Ben Grimm, a.k.a. The Thing, in Fox’s reboot of The Fantastic Four: “Obviously I’m not made of rocks and obviously I’m not 6 foot 8! t’s about capturing the essence of a human being inside of that character when he is transformed and you do that through motion capture. It’s a technique that my friend Andy Serkis has very much spearheaded — he is the guru of performance capture. I’ve been lucky to work with him three or four times actually, so I very much consider him my mentor. It’s a huge responsibility. I think people were kind of confused when I was cast, but this is very much an origin story of these characters. I haven’t seen the film yet. I’m very excited to see it, but what I can tell you is just from the making of the film and the journey that we’ve been on with it, it’s very much an experience, it really is. I’m very flattered and humbled to be a part of it…”
…After announcing earlier this month that he’s started work on the script for The Incredibles 2, Brad Bird has now shared a few words on his approach towards the sequel to the 2004 animated superhero hit: ” I worry if you comment too much on other movies then you might just be coasting off their good will. There was a very lazy trend in comedy where somebody would start singing the theme song from The Flintstones and you’re supposed to dig on it just because you recognise it. So I don’t like that. I think that movies ought to work in and of themselves. I think that the greatest special effect is caring about a character. A lot of movies seem to forget that, and they bring out a lot of fireballs and then wonder why the fireballs don’t have that much impact, no matter how loud and how big they are. But the truth is that the fireball isn’t that exciting unless you care about the person running from it. It can be fun, and certainly I had a blast getting to do the action sequences in The Incredibles, but that’s the dessert. Every movie is kind of a risk, and you’re thrown into a new pool and you haven’t learned how to swim in it yet, so I’m going to bumble along and make the same mistakes that I usually do and hopefully spot them and correct them. I really love those characters and that aspect of getting to be with them again is exciting to me…”
