…Moving on to DC now and Ben Affleck has been speaking about Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, admitting that there’s a “ton of pressure” on the film as the big launching point for the DC Extended Universe: “I think there is a ton of pressure on it. I mean I would be bullshitting you to say there isn’t. You’ll see next year [Warner Bros.] are going to have a great year. They are now developing probably the single greatest under-exploited IP asset in the entertainment business, the DC comic world. And now they have started to exploit that and you are going to see that blossom. And, when it does, it’s going to be massive… We are a very kind of instant gratification culture when it comes to analyzing the film business. And there is a lot of hyperbole involved. Nonetheless, there’s a lot of pressure on it. If it doesn’t do well, that will be extremely disappointing…”

[James Wan] is making The Conjuring 2 now, so he’s had his hand in the creation of let’s just call it a working document from which to write. But he’s directing that film [and] he’s got his hand ever so slightly in the development, but he’s really gonna throw himself into it after he finishes shooting Conjuring 2. And we’re planning on it being his film after Conjuring 2. He is a serious Aquaman fan.” Meanwhile, despite it being very early days, Joblo claims to have uncovered the identity of the villain set to battle Jason Momoa’s Aquaman in the film – it’s probably speculation, but at the risk of spoilers you can find out who it might be here…

I really feel like you shouldn’t make a movie as a kind of exercise. You have to be all the way in. I was never a comic book guy. I like the movies when I see them, especially the origin stories. I never felt like I could be on the set, at 3 o’clock in the morning, tired, with 10 important decisions to make, and know, intuitively, what the story needs. For me, I’d be copycatting and not inventing. I’ve never said yes to one…”
