…Moving on to the DC Cinematic Universe now and despite the fact its almost six months away from release, the MPAA has granted Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice a PG-13 rating for “intense sequences of violence and action throughout, and some sensuality.” Meanwhile, DC Collectibles has unveiled its 13″ Wonder Woman figurine based on the likeness of Gal Gadot, and Man of Steel star Michael Shannon has attempted to play down his recent Doomsday comments by claiming that “I really don’t have anything to say about [Batman v Superman], so sometimes I just make up stuff.” And speaking of people with a habit of making stuff up about Batman v Superman, El Mayimbe has had his crystal ball out again, suggesting that we’ll see two new teaser trailers (one Batman-themed, one Superman-themed) on October 26th during the commercial breaks of Gotham on FOX and Supergirl on CBS…
…Over the past month or so we’ve heard plenty of rumours that Mad Max: Fury Road director George Miller is being lined up for Man of Steel 2 (or Justice League Dark), but judging from the comments from the Australian filmmaker, it sounds unlikely – although he’s not ruling it out entirely: “There’s been some of that in the mix, but I’d say it’s probably not true. I was going to do a Justice League movie that fell through in 2009… I’ve always been interested. I work in mythology and superheroes are basically new incarnations of Greek and Roman mythology, so there’s always something of interest there. I grew up in an area that was mainly DC, so they are the pantheon for me…”
…In a brief bit of Suicide Squad news, Jared Leto offered up a few words about his portrayal of The Joker to fans of his band 30 Seconds to Mars during a Q&A event, stating that: “I can’t wait for you to see this – they’re going to lock me away in a box after this movie comes out…”
…It looks like HBO is looking to get in on the superhero act, with news breaking this week that the cable network has been having discussions with Zack Snyder about bringing Alan Moore’s Watchmen to the small screen. HBO confirmed that “preliminary discussions regarding Watchmen have occurred, but we have no additional information and no deals are in place.” At this point, that’s all we know, but speculation is suggesting that the series could be an adaptation of DC’s prequel comic books Before Watchmen…

…The first season may not have been a smash hit, but Sony Television has kicked off production on season two of its PlayStation Network series Powers, and this week has brought the first piece of casting news, with Michael Madsen set to play SuperShow, who is described as “a perfect physical specimen with an unparalleled presence that catapulted him to global fame. After retiring at the height of his career under mysterious circumstances and disappearing from public view, he emerges for the first time in forty years after the death of Retro Girl.” You can check out a brand new synopsis for Powers season two here…
