…As we gear up for the big screen debut of the Amazon Princess, Thor and Thor: The Dark World star Jaimie Alexander has been speaking about losing out on the role of Wonder Woman to Gal Gadot, and whether she was disappointed not to win the part: “Not at all. I’m excited to see what she’s going to do with the role. I was one of a few people that were an obvious choice for Wonder Woman, but it was never going to happen. I’m contracted with Marvel and it would (be) strange. Sif, in her way, is Marvel’s Wonder Woman. They’re both ethereal and have armor and a sword, and have special abilities; the physicality of the role is very similar. The thing I really enjoy about Marvel is that they start with a character first and all the explosions and costumes, the glitz and glam, are secondary to who the actual character is deep down. That’s something I haven’t really been able to find with DC Comics. I know that’s a bold statement, but it’s been my experience..”

…Tom Welling has been discussing the DC TV universe, and how Smallville paved the way for the current crop of DC shows: “You know, the success of Smallville is directly correlated to The Flash or Arrow – that genre that Warner Bros has been able to do. I do feel proud that it started with us, but it wasn’t just because of us. I think technology and timing – we were suddenly able to do things in television that were, until then, only available in film because of how expensive they were. So we were lucky to be able to have that timing. I do enjoy [Supergirl]. It’s got a different angle, a more comedic angle, of course. It’s telling the story in a different way, and I don’t think it’s a world that I ever existed in with Clark because they’re two different shows. There’s really nothing in common, there are no parallels at all. I say that being a fan of what they’re doing. I think they’re doing a great job.” Welling also offered a few words on Batman v Superman and Henry Cavill’s big screen interpretation of the Man of Steel, and you can read the rest of his comments here…

…And finally, Todd McFarlane has given his annual update on a new Spawn movie, revealing that he is hoping to direct the film himself (assuming it ever gets made, of course): “I’ve finished the script, and I’m in the process of editing. It’s 183 pages, and [producers] usually like 120. I still think it’s going to end up being about 140, because I’m putting in details for myself. I want to keep it small, keep it tight, so they’ll let me direct it! I need to get him back up on the big screen again to make him relevant in a big way, which we will do…”
