…After enjoying the biggest superhero movie opening of all-time, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice suffered a sharp fall at the box office in its second weekend, dropping a hefty 68% in North America and prompting the studio’s chief of domestic distribution Jeff Goldstein to offer a vote of confidence in the film, stating that: “We’re not concerned with the drop. No matter how you slice it, to get to $52 million on any given weekend is an enormous accomplishment. We’re most focused on where we are in total. And our global number is huge.” The film is certainly performing better internationally, and sailed past the $700 million mark this week, outgrossing the entire run of Man of Steel ($668 million). Expect it to cross $800 million this weekend, and a billion still seems possible, especially if there’s any truth to the rumour that Warner Bros. is planning a theatrical release for the extended ‘Ultimate Edition’ cut…

…Speaking in the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Art of the Film book, Zack Snyder discussed the original ending he had in mind back when BvS was plain old Man of Steel 2, with the director stating that: “Originally, it was going to be a straight Superman movie. One of the ideas was that at the end of the movie, a crate of kryptonite would be delivered to Wayne Manor. That didn’t happen, but once Batman was mentioned, he wouldn’t go away. It couldn’t be undone.” And speaking of Man of Steel 2, you can find out Snyder, Henry Cavill and producer Charles Roven’s thoughts on whether we will see another solo Superman movie here, as well as Snyder’s hope that we’ll see a Ben Affleck-directed Batman movie here…
…Having made a brief cameo in Batman v Superman, Jason Momoa has discussed the backlash from critics towards the movie, stating that: There’s been some things here and there, but I’m stoked. There’s a lot of support from fans. There’s a big beautiful world. There’s a lot — a lot — of stuff. I feel really privileged to know that there’s a lot of big, beautiful stuff that’s going to happen. I’m excited too, for people to see the final product. And now it’s our turn — it’s Justice League time! I’ve been waiting for four years that I’ve known about it that I’ve had to keep my mouth shut. I’m super pumped to shoot it! Some people liked it, some people didn’t, it is what it is. I don’t get it, but I don’t really listen to what anyone says…You can’t win ’em all. And I had a ball. I loved it.” Momoa also spoke briefly about his upcoming Aquaman movie, comparing it to Marvel’s Iron Man, and you can read the rest of his comments here…
…With Justice League Part One set to begin filming this coming week, El Mayimbe is claiming that the big DC ensemble won’t see our heroes battling Darkseid, but rather them getting involved in a war between the Atlanteans and the Amazons, with Darkseid then going up against the League in Justice League Part Two. It’s certainly plausible, although the notoriously sketchy scooper followed up his rumour by suggesting that “plans could change”, which is an utterly ridiculous thing to say given that cameras roll on Monday…
…Jai Courtney has confirmed that reshoots are underway on Suicide Squad, although he denied the rumours claiming that it was too lighten the tone and making it “more fun”: “[You] can’t believe everything you read. I think there’s plenty of that in it, I wouldn’t say we’re going back to make it funnier. There’s some additional action stuff that we’ve been doing, which is pretty dope. Really, we’re just kind of adding in that sense.” However, reports persist that director David Ayer has been “made” to do reshoots as the studio felt the movie was “too dark”…
…We’ll get to see Gal Gadot’s Diana back on the big screen slightly earlier than expected, with Warner Bros. bringing the release date of Wonder Woman forward to June 2nd 2017 from its original June 23rd date, as well as adding a further two mystery DC movies for October 5th 2018 and November 1st 2019. This comes amid reports that Warner is scaling back on original projects in favour of focusing on its DC, LEGO and Harry Potter franchises…
…In one last piece of news from the DC Extended Universe, Zack Snyder spoke about the future of the DCEU, seemingly revealing that Ray Fisher’s Cyborg could appear alongside Ezra Miller’s Barry Allen in The Flash: “David Ayer’s Suicide Squad has such an amazing, brash tone. It’s fun and it’s about the villains, and it’s super-different than Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman, which is an origin story and tells her story. As you can imagine, when we get to the Flash movie, Ezra Miller and Ray Fisher — who plays Cyborg — are kind of our youngest characters, and they have a really nice camaraderie with each other. Ezra is super funny, so the tone of that film will be very different than the rest of them..”
