…Before we get to Justice League in November, we do of course have the Wonder Woman solo movie to look forward to, and DC Collectibles unveiled a couple of rather nice statues featuring Gal Gadot’s Diana and Chris Pine’s Steve Trevor [see here], while Pine debunked the rumour that he’ll be playing the dual roles of Steve Trevor and his grandson, as well as talking briefly about the film itself: “It was fun to fall in love with Gal Gadot. It was fun to do some comedy. It was fun to do some action. The part kind of asked for a little bit of all of it, so it was a good time. …During a promotional interview for his new film The Accountant, Ben Affleck took the opportunity to respond to the mixed reception of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice: “It’s interesting… it was a huge hit movie, more people went to see that than any movie I’ve ever made in my career. It was the biggest hit of my career and then it had a lot of editorial negativity. Fans went, and it got a lot of positive response. It was interesting, that movie, because it was judged not necessarily on execution so much as its tone. People seemed to want to have a lighter tone to the movie, and I thought that was interesting. Tone isn’t a qualitative thing. It’s subjective, right? Some tones resonate with me that might not with you. And the tone of the movie was really parallel to the Frank Miller book [The Dark Knight Returns], which I liked and thought was great. I’m glad that so many people went and so many people liked the movie. I loved it…”
…Affleck also revealed that his solo Batman movie will be going by the rumoured title of The Batman, before subsequently backtracking on his comments; he did however go on to explain why he opted for the character of Deathstroke as the villain in the movie, stating that: “He’s a great villain because—I just had an instinctive feeling that he would match up with him well. You know, I’m a big admirer of that character as well, especially in the New 52 the way that they did Deathstroke, and I thought that it could work…”
