…It looks like 20th Century Fox may be moving ahead with another X-Men spinoff, with Logan director James Mangold revealing this week that he’s working on the story for a solo movie based around Dafne Keen’s Laura, a.k.a. X-23, and will pen the script with the character’s co-creator Craig Kyle (Thor: Ragnarok). “[Patty Jenkins’] success with [Wonder Woman] only solidifies more for studios that there’s less to fear with a female protagonist,” said Mangold. “The more that keeps getting hit home, that ends up giving me more space turning around and going, ‘Well, here we are with a female protagonist. That’s incredible. And what are we going to do with her?’ And that’s where we are with that [the Laura script] right now, dreaming.” Hugh Jackman quickly ruled out any involvement, including a producer credit, adding that: “No, I won’t be a producer on a Laura sequel. But I will be lining up on the Thursday night at 10 p.m. to watch it though. She is just phenomenal…”
…There’s a lot of high expectations for Deadpool 2 and its action sequences given new director David Leitch’s work on John Wick, and according to Josh Brolin, the sequel is going to feature much more in the way of action than that of its predecessor: “I had heard somewhere along the line, and I think it’s okay for me to say this, but I heard somewhere along the line that they felt the first Deadpool didn’t have enough action. With this movie, it’s just a different deal. David embraces what he’s very good at, which I think is very smart. There’s ton of action in it. The tease is, a guy who’s 49 years old on the cusp of 50 who got in the best shape of his life, especially exteriorly, and I was extremely disciplined throughout that whole thing. I got beat to shit on that movie. That’s all I know. I had stuntmen throwing me all over the place…”

Meanwhile, Anna Paquin – whose husband and former True Blood star Stephen Moyer stars in the show – has seemingly ruled out a potential cameo as Rogue, stating that: “I feel like that would be distracting, honestly. I mean, look, who knows? But I feel like that’s one of those things that probably takes people out of the story in a weird way. If I was the creative force behind it, I’m not sure I would want to splice True Blood married people with different X-Men families. I feel like that might be a little schticky…”
