…In other Netflix news, the official Daredevil Twitter account shared a brief season three teaser making reference to the ending of The Defenders [see here], while Mike Colter has been chatting about the inclusion of Finn Jones’ Iron Fist in the second season of Luke Cage: “He will bring some fresh blood in the new season and I’m hoping that people will respond to it well. We are teamed up for a bit. That’s the whole point of bringing that flavor to it. I can see how this works. That’s what good about it. We’re giving people what they want. A lot of times people wanted to see Jessica Jones and Luke and what happens to them; but we went out on a limb, and decided to ‘let’s give a little Heroes for Hire somewhere in the season and see what happens.’ Hopefully people will respond to it…”

…If rumours are to be believed, Marvel is looking to cast the Kree assassin character Sals-Bek for a two-episode guest role in the upcoming fifth season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.; given that the character featured in the Inhumans: The Great Refuge comic book storyline, this has prompted more speculation about a potential crossover between the two ABC series…
…After releasing the first trailer last week, The New Mutants director Josh Boone has been discussing the horror tone of the X-Men spinoff, as well as his plans for a trilogy of films: “We brought it to Fox as a trilogy of films, really all based on that long run by Sienkiewicz, and kind of incorporates some stuff from later issues in the 1980s. These are all going to be horror movies, and they’re all be their own distinct kind of horror movies. This is certainly the ‘rubber-reality’ supernatural horror movie. The next one will be a completely different kind of horror movie. Our take was just go examine the horror genre through comic book movies and make each one its own distinct sort of horror film. Drawing from the big events that we love in the comics. It is connected to and a part of the X-Men universe, and will continue to be a part of the X-Men universe and will be a part of that as it opens up in the next movies and all that. We’re going to introduce new characters in the next movie as well. Characters like Karma and Warlock, and all that will be in future movies…”
…2018 is a big year for 20th Century Fox’s X-Men franchise; in addition to The New Mutants, the studio is also releasing Deadpool 2 and X-Men: Dark Phoenix, and it has been announced this week that both of those movies have wrapped filming…
…As well as battling Earth’s Mightiest Heroes in Avengers: Infinity War, Josh Brolin is set to portray Cable next year in Deadpool 2, and the actor has revealed this week that he has a four film deal to play the character long term, as well as touching upon his part in the film, and his next outing in X-Force: “I’m not going to tell you how much I’m in the film, but it’s his introduction, and I think his introduction, even in the small promos and teasers that [director] David Leitch has shown me, I think it’s a proper reveal. I think we’re not trying to hide the fact that this is the beginning of Cable and absolutely not the end. I think when you’re sensitive about how you reveal this character there’s a sense of mystery in it, so then when we finally get into X-Force, you’re going to be with this guy full blown all the time. There’s a lot to be revealed. There’s a lot to be revealed, but there’s three more movies to reveal more. I think [X-Force shoots] sometime next year or soon thereafter. It depends. It all depends. It depends on how Deadpool 2 does, but I don’t think that’s a make or break kind of deal. Drew Goddard is already involved in it. He’s into it now. I know he and Ryan Reynolds were meeting. I’ve met him once, and so this is all kind of going ahead. How it goes ahead, I know that they’re preparing, and I know that it’s something that I’m set to do. When it happens they’re going to put it as fast as they can. I think Drew Goddard is doing his movie right now and then once he’s kind of wrapped up with that and this movie comes out I think we’ll be ready to start the other one…”
…It looks like we may have another Quicksilver-style case on our hands, with a rumour this week claiming that Fox is looking to get the jump on Marvel’s introduction of The Skrulls in Captain Marvel by having the shape-shifting alien race feature in next year’s X-Men: Dark Phoenix. This would of course mark a huge change from The Dark Phoenix Saga comic book story arc, but despite the rumour, Storm actress Alexandra Shipp has suggested that the movie will remain faithful to the source material: “As a fan of X-Men, you are going to be very happy, because I’m a huge fan of X-Men and so is our director, Simon Kinberg, who’s also writing and executive producing it. He is not letting anything go. It’s very accurate to the comics and he really gives the fans what they’ve been asking for, in my opinion. All I can say is that you’re really going to like it…”
…In one other X-related rumour, it has been reported this week that the character of Candra is set to feature in Gambit, and that the telepathic supervillain will be involved with both the Thieves Guild (Gambit) and the Assassins Guild (Bella Donna). The oft-delayed spinoff recently found a director in Gore Verbinski, and is now seemingly moving full steam ahead towards its latest February 2019 release date…
