Twisted Metal dominated the gaming world in the 90s with its bizarre stylings, and now it’s also taking over streaming as the new Peacock series has become the streamer’s “most-binged” comedy premiere.
Per NBCUniversal, within the first two weeks of the show’s launch, the average account watched about three episodes per sitting, even some viewers getting all ten episodes in a single viewing window.
The accolade is credited to the strong word-of-mouth and the fact that the series has some shorter runtimes, allowing for an easier binge. Still, the buzz is growing for the project, especially within the gaming and horror communities.
Twisted Metal joins Poker Face, Bel Air, The Best Man: Final Chapters, and Based on a True Story as Peacock’s top five original series launched to date.
Starring Anthony Mackie, Stephanie Beatriz, Thomas Haden Church, Will Arnett, and Joe Seanoa, the live-action series follows a motor-mouthed outsider as he travels across a post-apocalyptic wasteland to deliver a mysterious package in exchange of a chance of a better life. Michael Jonathan Smith wrote the series and serves as showrunner.
Twisted Metal, a half-hour live-action TV series based on the classic PlayStation game series, is a high-octane action comedy based on an original take by Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick and written by Michael Jonathan Smith, about a motor-mouthed outsider offered a chance at a better life, but only if he can successfully deliver a mysterious package across a post-apocalyptic wasteland. With the help of a badass axe-wielding car thief, he’ll face savage marauders driving vehicles of destruction and other dangers of the open road, including a deranged clown who drives an all too familiar ice cream truck.
Twisted Metal is currently streaming on Peacock.
