The cast for the Twister sequel Twisters keeps growing as Brandon Perea (Nope) is the latest to join the film, where he’ll star alongside Daisy Edgar-Jones (Where The Crawdads Sing), Glen Powell (Top Gun: Maverick) and Anthony Ramos (Transformers: Rise of the Beasts).
Twisters will be directed by Lee Isaac Chung (Minari) from a script written by Mark L. Smith (The Revenant). Frank Marshall and Pat Crowley will produce through the Kennedy/Marshall Company. It will be a co-production between Universal, Warner Bros. and Amblin Entertainment.
Little is known about Twisters, but it’s described as “the next chapter” in the Twister story. The original Twister in 1996 followed a team of storm-chasers as they hunted down the most powerful tornado in decades. The film starred Helen Hunt, Bill Paxton, Carey Elwes, and Philip Seymour Hoffman, which made nearly $500 million at the box office and received two Oscar nominations.
It is currently unknown if Hunt or any other original stars might return for the sequel, though Bill Paxton passed away in 2017 and Philip Seymour Hoffman before him in 2014.
Twisters is set to release on July 19, 2024.
