With filming due to get underway soon, two more actors have joined the cast of Patriots Day, the upcoming drama based on the events on and after the 2014 Boston Marathon bombing.
Joining the cast are House of Cards actress Rachel Brosnahan and Christopher O’Shea (Madam Secretary) who are set to play newlyweds Jessica Kensky and Patrick Downes who were at the finish line to cheer on runners the day of the attacks.” Both were seriously injured after the bombing but survived.
Peter Berg (Lone Survivor) is directing the film which has been written by Brit Matt Charman (Bridge of Spies). Mark Wahlberg (Deepwater Horizon) leads a cast that also includes John Goodman (10 Cloverfield Lane), Kevin Bacon (Black Mass), Michelle Monaghan (True Detective), Alex Wolff (My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2) and J.K. Simmons (Whiplash).
On the casting, Berg said: “The survivors are the heart of this story, and Rachel and Christopher are bringing their immense talents and their respect for Jessica and Patrick’s extraordinary courage to the film.”
Patriot’s Day is due for release on December 21st, 2016.
