Back in 2017, Universal announced that it was pushing back the release of Fast & Furious 9 in order to squeeze in the series’ first spinoff, Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw, prompting Tyrese Gibson to share some rather harsh words for his franchise co-star Dwayne Johnson.
Well, it seems Tyrese is still a little upset over the whole situation, as he’s now decided to slam The Rock again, stating in a series of now-deleted Instagram posts that Hobbs & Shaw’s $180 million global opening weekend “is not a win” and once again accusing him of breaking up the Fast & Furious family.
“I have to show my respects for one thing…. He tried… Folks called me a hater…. Attacked me for speaking out…..Breaking up the family clearly doesn’t have the value that one would assume it does. Hobbs & Shaw Has Lowest Fast & Furious Box Office Opening Since Tokyo Drift‘… You know what maybe just maybe… The Rock and the crew will come dance with us again for #Fast10 we can all hug it out and get back to giving the true fans who have supported this franchise for 20 years what they want……..No hating I’m just pointing out the facts… #FastFamily has more value as the #FastFamily”

Gibson is currently shooting Fast & Furious 9, and while Johnson is sitting out the next instalment, it does see the return of franchise veterans Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Nathalie Emmanuel, Chris ‘Lucacris’ Bridges, Helen Mirren and Charlize Theron alongside new additions include John Cena (Bumblebee), Finn Cole (Peaky Blinders), Anna Sawai (Ninja Assassin) and Vinnie Bennett (Ghost in the Shell).
Ever since hulking lawman Hobbs (Johnson), a loyal agent of America’s Diplomatic Security Service, and lawless outcast Shaw (Statham), a former British military elite operative, first faced off in 2015’s Furious 7, the duo have swapped smack talk and body blows as they’ve tried to take each other down.
But when cyber-genetically enhanced anarchist Brixton (Idris Elba) gains control of an insidious bio-threat that could alter humanity forever — and bests a brilliant and fearless rogue MI6 agent (The Crown’s Vanessa Kirby), who just happens to be Shaw’s sister — these two sworn enemies will have to partner up to bring down the only guy who might be badder than themselves.
Hobbs & Shaw blasts open a new door in the Fast universe as it hurtles action across the globe, from Los Angeles to London and from the toxic wasteland of Chernobyl to the lush beauty of Samoa.
Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw is directed by David Leitch (John Wick, Deadpool 2) sees the return of Dwayne Johnson (Luke Hobbs), Jason Statham (Deckard Shaw) and Helen Mirren (Magdalene Shaw) alongside franchise newcomers Idris Elba (Luther), Vanessa Kirby (Mission: Impossible – Fallout), Eddie Marsan (Ray Donovan), and Eiza Gonzalez (Baby Driver).
