With its acquisition of DreamWorks Animation earlier this year, Universal Pictures picked up the rights the 80s cartoon series Voltron, and the studio has continue development on a live-action adaptation of the franchise.
David Hayter (X-Men, Watchmen) is set to pen the script for the Voltron movie, although Deadline is reporting that with it being an inherited project from DWA, Universal will wait for a draft of the script before making a final decision whether to press ahead.
A huge success during its original run between 1984 and 1985, Voltron was revived by DreamWorks Animation earlier this year with the Netflix animated series Voltron: Legendary Defender. A second season will hit the streaming service in January 2017.
