Universal retitles Tom Cruise and Doug Liman’s Mena, pushes released back nine months

Deadline is reporting that Universal Pictures has renamed the upcoming Tom Cruise – Doug Liman CIA spy thriller Mena, with the film now going by the title of American Made, as well as pushing back the release date nine months from January 6th 2017 to September 29th 2017.

The film is based on the real-life exploits of Barry Seal, a hustler and pilot unexpectedly recruited by the CIA in the 1980s to run one of the biggest covert operations in U.S. history. Cruise stars as Seal, whil ethe release of the cast includes Domhnall Gleeson, Sarah Wright, Jayma Mays, Jesse Plemons, Lola Kirke, Lara Gruce and Caleb Landry Jones.

Tom Cruise will next be seen in Jack Reacher: Never Go Back, which opens in October, while he also has Universal’s The Mummy remake set to arrive next year. He will also return as Ethan Hunt in M:I 6 – Mission Impossible, and is also due to reunite with Doug Liman on the action sci-fi Luna Park.
