For fans of Jordan Peele’s distinct and Oscar-winning style of horror, there’s a new project on the horizon. Universal, the studio behind Peele’s hits Get Out and Us, has slated his third film for a Summer 2022 release date.
This is part of the filmmaker’s five-year exclusive production partnership with Universal Pictures and Monkeypaw Productions. As Peele hinted at in Fangoria, the filmmaker is planning a movie that he aims to make “scarier than both Get Out and Us.” Peele is also looking to shoot this still-untitled film in California as The Hollywood Reporter noted this Universal/Peele collaboration was on a list of movies that have been selected to receive tax credits to film in the state.
Peele remains busy in the genre, even though he won’t be directing a feature film until 2022. He is coming off executive producing a hit HBO series with Lovecraft Country. He’s also producing a plethora of horror projects, including Nia DaCosta’s upcoming Candyman sequel and a remake of Wes Craven’s cult classic The People Under the Stairs.
