Annabelle writer Gary Dauberman has just locked down another big deal. Deadline reports that USA has decided to pick up his alien-drama project in development, The Terrestrial.
The Terrestrial follows a schizophrenic man who is forced to confront his troubled past with his estranged daughter, who has since gone missing. He comes to believe that his daughter’s kidnappers may just be the same group of aliens… yes aliens… responsible for abducted him 10 years prior. Dauberman will act as execute producer on the project, along with Fabrik’s Mikkel Bondesen, Henrik Bastin and Kristen Campo.
Dauberman got his big break when he sold his spec script Burst to Mandate Pictures back in 2013. The script is currently being produced by Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert with The Descent director Neil Marshall helming the film. Burst centers on a group of people, holed up in a lodge during a terrible blizzard, who begin to spontaneously combust one-by-one.
After selling Burst, Dauberman went on to write The Conjuring spin-off Annabelle, which has became a box office smash hit racking up over $250 million on a modest budget of $6.5 million. He’s since been tapped to write Universal’s sci-fi pic Crime of the Century and has been hired to rework New Line scripts Into The Storm and Watching Hour, along with the next installments of Final Destination and Nightmare on Elm Street. His thriller script Crawlspace is also currently in post-production now, set for a 2015 release.
