Back in August it was announced by The CW that a spinoff from The Vampire Diaries and The Originals was in development, focussing on the character of Hope Mikaelson, the tribrid daughter of Niklaus Mikaelson and Hayley Marshall-Kenner, and the world’s first werewolf-witch-vampire.
Well, it seems the project – which is being developed by TVD/The Originals showrunner Julie Plec – is now picking up steam, as Deadline is reporting that The Originals‘ Danielle Rose Russell, Matt Davis and Aria Shahghasemi are set to reprise their roles in the project, while Quincy Fouse, Jenny Boyd and Kaylee Bryant will all play new characters.
According to the site, the proposed offshoot will not go down the pilot / backdoor pilot route, and will instead be pitched via a video presentation, largely compiled from footage from the upcoming fifth and final season of The Originals, which has been designed to set the stage for the potential spinoff. If it impresses executives, it will receive a straight to season order.
The fifth season of The Originals is set to premiere on The CW on Friday, April 20th.
