SyFy’s Van Helsing has just added a new member to the cast for its second season: Canadian actress Missy Peregyrm (Rookie Blue) is joining as a series regular and will play Scarlett Harker, a woman with mysterious ties to vampires and could possibly aid in Vanessa Helsing’s battle against them.
Van Helsing is a modern reimagining of the vampire hunter which sees Vanessa Van Helsing (Kelly Overton), a distant relative of Dracula hunter Abraham Van Helsing, resurrected years after her death in a world where vampires have taken over. Awakened in this new nightmare, Vanessa leads a resistance against the vampiric rule and aims to cleanse the world of vampires.
“We are so lucky and happy to have Missy join the Van Helsing team this season” said Neil LaBute, Van Helsing‘s showrunner. “The series thrives on female energy & power and we’re getting two barrels full with Missy’s talents. I can’t wait to see her jump into battle alongside Kelly Overton and the rest of the cast with all we have planned for them in Season Two.”
“We are thrilled to have Missy join our amazing cast of warriors,” added Chad Oakes, Executive Producer and Co-Chairman of Nomadic Pictures. “Her physical and mental strength as an actress adds amazing chemistry to our family. We are so happy to be working with her.”
“We are excited and privileged that Missy is now part of our extraordinary ensemble,” said Chris Regina, SyFy’s Senior Vice President of Original Co-Productions. “We look forward to having our Van Helsing mythology strengthened by her energy, charisma, and talent.”
Van Helsing will return to SyFy and Netflix this fall.
