The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Good Universe is partnering up with video game developer Campo Santo to develop both feature film and video game content, beginning with a big screen adaptation of Campo Santo’s critically acclaimed first-person mystery Firewatch.
“When we met Good Universe we were floored by how they recognize, cultivate and produce incredible stories,” said Sean Vanaman, founder of Campo Santo. “It’s rare you meet another group that shares so many of your values and makes the process of creating things even more exciting. We can’t wait to see what we make together,”
“Finding extraordinary content is incredibly exciting, and with the Campo Santo team, we felt an immediate simpatico with their utterly beguiling storytelling and amazing creative instincts,” added Good Universe co-founder Joe Drake.
Released back in February, Firewatch takes place in 1989, the year after the Yellowstone fires of 1988, and follows a fire lookout called Henry, who notices that strange things begin happening to him and his supervisor Delilah, which connect to a mystery that happened years ago. The received positive reviews from critics [including Flickering Myth’s Villordsutch – read his review here], and has sold almost 1 million copies to date.
