EJ Moreno reviews the indie horror film The Mean One…
A new Christmas horror film is here, and the green monster is not so friendly this time. In The Mean One, we see a fresh new take on The Grinch as well as a hell of a send-up to Hallmark holiday films.
While The Mean One is obviously hindered by a budget, there’s so much potential on display. It’s a gleefully twisted Christmas tale, led by another stellar David Howard Thornton (Terrifier) performance. Join critic EJ Moreno for a full spoiler-free review.

In the audacious new parody, The Mean One (Terrifier 2‘s David Howard Thornton) is a hairy, green-skinned grump in a Santa suit, living on a mountain high above the town of Newville, despising the holiday season. Young Cindy You-Know-Who (Krystle Martin), whose parents were butchered by The Mean One twenty Christmases earlier, is returning to town to seek closure… but when the Mean One launches a new reign of terror that threatens to destroy Christmas, Cindy finds a bold new purpose – trapping and killing the monster.
Along with David Howard Thornton, the cast of The Mean One includes Chase Mullins, John Bigham, Erik Baker, Flip Kobler, and Amy Schumacher.
The Mean One is set for release on December 9th.
