Deadline is reporting that Warner Bros. and DC Films are teaming with Chernin Entertainment for an adaptation of the DC Comics series Hourman.
Created by Ken Fitch and Bernard Baily and making his first appearance in Adventure Comics #48 in 1940, the original Hourman was Rex Tyler, a chemist who develops a ‘Miraclo’ pill which grants him superhuman strength, speed and agility, but only for a single hour. A member of the Justice Society of America, the original Hourman was succeeded by his son Rick Tyler during DC’s Crisis on Infinite Earths.
As per the trade, the script for Hourman will be penned by writing duo Gavin James and Neil Widener, who are currently working on several projects for WB including Hot Wheels and San Andreas 2.
Warner Bros. previously developed a live-action Hourman series for The CW back in 2013, although it failed to make it to series. Rex Tyler did however appear in DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, played by Patrick J. Adams, while both Rex and Rick Tyler have featured in Stargirl, played by Lou Ferrigno, Jr. and Cameron Gellman.
