According to TV Line, Warner Bros. is in development on a live-action version of the classic Hanna-Barbera cartoon series The Jetsons.
The site reports that Family Guy executive producer Gary Janetti has been brought in to shepherd the project, described as a multi-camera comedy, and will also serve as an executive producer alongside Robert Zemeckis and Jack Rapke. It is expected to be shopped to interested broadcast and cable networks in the coming weeks.
In addition to the series, Warner is also working on an animated Jetsons feature film, having tapped Conrad Vernon (Monsters vs. Aliens, Sausage Party) to develop.
The Jetsons originally ran on ABC between 1962 and 1963, with an animated feature Jetsons: The Movie released in 1990. It follows the space age adventures of the titular family, led by father George, along with wife Jane, children Judy and Elroy, household robot Rosie and family dog Astro.
