A month after premiering its second season, Netflix has cancelled the action fantasy series Warrior Nun.
Warrior Nun is inspired by the manga-style American comic book series followed a group of nuns in a secret sect of the church devoted to battling demons and otherworldly monsters.
The second season, which premiered in early November, earned several glowing reviews from critics while the show has developed a passionate fanbase. In fact, the second season of Warrior Nun is Netflix’s highest audience-rated season of any Netflix series as it sits at 99% on Rotten Tomatoes. Creator and showrunner Simon Barry wrote on his Twitter to Warrior Nun fans about the news.
I’ve just found out that @netflix will not be renewing #WarriorNun – my sincere appreciation to all the fans who worked so hard to bring awareness to this series, and for the love you showed me, the cast and the whole production team. It was a privilege to be a part of this. ❤️ pic.twitter.com/eZIBa4tJYm

This follows Netflix’s trend of cancelling series early in their run based on the streamer’s algorithms and other data, even ones with a strong following. Currently fans, as well as Barry and other cast and crew of Warrior Nun, have already started a campaign to save and renew the series either at Netflix or for another streaming service to pick it up.
