Watchmen’s Jovan Adepo joins thriller Misanthrope with Shailene Woodley and Ben Mendelsohn

January 12, 2021 by Ricky Church

Deadline has reported that Jovan Adepo (Watchmen) has been cast in Misanthrope, a serial killer thriller starring Shailene Woodley (Big Little Lies) and Ben Mendelsohn (Ready Player One).

Misanthrope follows “a talented, but troubled cop, who is recruited by the FBI to help profile and track down a mass murderer.” Adepo will play MacKenzie, “a young FBI agent, who is deeply involved in hunting down the murderer.”

Adepo earned an Emmy nomination for his performance in HBO’s miniseries Watchmen, where he played a young version of the series’ Will Reeves and the first costumed vigilante, Hooded Justice. His other credits include Fences and Overlord.

Misanthrope will be direct by Damián Szifron (Wild Tales), who co-wrote the screenplay with Jonathan Wakeham. The film will be produced by FilmNation Entertainment with Szifron, Woodley and Stuart Manashil producing.

Production will begin in Montreal later this month.
