Back in 2013 it was announced that a Playmobil movie was in development, and now thanks to Deadline we have our first piece of casting news for the project.
The site reports that The Goldbergs star Wendi McLendon-Covey has been cast in the live-action/animation hybrid, which is based upon the bestselling Playmobil toy line. The film will mark the directorial debut of Disney veteran Lino DiSalvo, head of animation on Frozen, and has been scripted by Blaise Hemingway (The Settlers of Catan), with The Little Prince team of Aton Soumache, Dimitri Rassam, Alexis Vonarb serving as producers.
The untitled Playmobil movie is set for release on January 18th 2019 in North America and February 10th 2019 in the UK. McLendon-Covey meanwhile can currently be seen in the fifth season of ABC’s The Goldbergs, where she plays mother Beverly Goldberg.
