Back in November of 2018, Ubisoft announced that it was developing a big screen adaptation of its VR video game Werewolves Within, and now comes word that the project has secured a director and new cast member.
As revealed by Deadline, Josh Ruben (Scare Me) is set to direct the film, while Michael Chernus (Tommy) has been cast alongside the previously announced Sam Richardson (Veep).
Werewolves Within takes place in a medieval town where the inhabitants are coming under attack from a werewolf who happens to be one of the townsfolk in disguise. The logline for the movie adaptation reads:
“Shenanigans ensue when a massive blizzard isolates a small Vermont town, causing simmering resentments to boil over as the oddball townspeople are one by one picked off by a mysterious creature.”
The Werewolves Within movie originated with Ubisoft’s Women’s Film and Television Fellowship, with author Mishna Wolff successfully pitching the project to the fledgling film and TV division of the video game giant.
