Wes Anderson has begun forming the cast for his next project, and the still-untiled movie is shaping up to be one of his more interesting crop of characters.
Bill Murray, Michael Cera, and Benicio Del Toro will star in the upcoming film, confirmed by Deadline in the last week.
Cera is a new addition to the world of Wes Anderson, while Bill Murray & Benicio Del Toro are familiar with the quirky stylings of the filmmaker. Deadline notes that further casting is also under wraps, but expect the typical star-studded huge ensemble.
Little is known about the project, but Anderson wrote the film with Roman Coppola. Back in September of 2023, Anderson hinted at the project, saying he worked with Coppola, and they had just finished the script for a Del Toro-led feature before the writer’s strike.
Anderson will use this as the follow-up to 2023’s Asteroid City, as well as the shorts Poison, The Rat Catcher, The Swan, and The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar, a series of Netflix shorts based on the works of Roald Dahl.
Production on the as-yet-untitled film is slated to begin sometime this year.
