Last year it was announced that Warner Bros. was developing a live-action/CG-animated hybrid feature entitled Coyote vs. Acme and featuring the classic Looney Tunes character Wile E. Coyote, and now comes word that the studio has enlisted a director.
As reported by Variety, Dave Green (Earth to Echo, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows) has signed on to direct the film, which was originally scripted by Jon and Josh Silberman (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia) and has Chris McKay (The LEGO Batman Movie) producing.
Wile E. Coyote made his debut in 1949’s ‘Fast and Furry-ous‘, and has spent decades attempting to catch his nemesis the Road Runner using a variety of outlandish weapons, products and contraptions from the Acme Corporation, only for his plans to constantly backfire.
Along with Coyote vs. Acme, Warner Bros. is also making use of its Looney Tunes characters with the long-gestating Space Jam sequel starring LeBron James, which is set for release on July 16th 2021.
