After dominating 2024 with her hit album BRAT, Charli XCX is taking Hollywood by storm and one of her next gigs could be a key role in a hotly-anticipated movie adaptation of a classic book series.
Greta Gerwig (Barbie) has been cooking up her take on The Chronicles of Narnia for Netflix. While details have been kept tightly under wraps, Deadline reports that the English musician could play a key role in Gerwig’s world.
No one has confirmed the casting, but reports have Charli XCX in line for the role of Jadis, The White Witch. Tilda Swinton famously played the role in 2005’s The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. She would follow that in two sequels, Prince Caspian and The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.
While we have yet to see Charli XCX on the big screen, she made a splash as a guest host and musical guest on a recent episode of Saturday Night Live. She is set to appear in the upcoming films: Cathy Yan’s The Gallerist, Romain Gavras’ Sacrifice and Gregg Araki’s I Want Your Sex.
Charli is coming off an impressive 2024, when her album BRAT dominated trends and eventually won a handful of Grammys at this year’s ceremony. Gerwig previously teamed with the singer on Barbie, featuring an original song “Speed Drive” by Charli XCX on the award-winning soundtrack.
