Producers Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen are sending Elf star Will Ferrell back to the North Pole, having acquired the rights to Guy Lawson’s New York Times Magazine article ‘Ice Pack: An Insurance Salesman and a Doctor Walk Into a Bar, and End Up at the North Pole‘.
The film will tell the true story of an unlikely exhibition to the North Pole, where a group of six middle-aged men from Minnesota hatched a plan to travel to the Arctic after a heavy night of drinking. Stocking up on whiskey and snowmobiles, the group of amateurs set off on their adventure where they overcame melting ice-caps, hungry bears and frozen alcohol to become the first successful expedition to reach the North Pole on snowmobiles.
Deadline reports that the project is being built around Ferrell, although as yet they are yet to find a writer or director for the project.
