As films in 2020 continue to be delayed or find alternative methods of release, Paramount’s Tom Clancy adaptation Without Remorse starring Michael B. Jordan may find a new home at Amazon. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Paramount and Amazon have begun talks to sell the film to the streaming service.
The Without Remorse novel details John Clark’s origins as he battled a drug cartel after the death of his girlfriend and was recruited to attempt a rescue of POWs. Formerly known as John Kelly, he was a Navy SEAL who got recruited into the CIA and later acted as Jack Ryan’s bodyguard. He would eventually go on to lead the international Rainbow Six counter-terrorism unit.
The deal has not yet been finalized, but if it goes through it would make yet another Tom Clancy property for the streaming service after its own series, Jack Ryan. It would also mark the third major film Paramount has sold after selling Netflix The Lovebirds and The Trial of the Chicago 7.
The Tom Clancy adaptation is directed by Stefano Sollima (Sicario: Day of the Soldado) from a script by Sicario’s Taylor Sheridan. Without Remorse is being produced by Paramount Pictures, who hope to turn Clark into a franchise with Rainbow Six as a sequel. Jordan is signed to reprise his role as Clark in Rainbow Six.
Without Remorse will also star Jamie Bell (Fantastic Four), Jodie Turner-Smith (Queen & Slim), Luke Mitchell (Blindspot), Jacob Scipio (Bad Boys for Life), Cam Gigandet (Ice), Jack Kesy (12 Strong) and Todd Lasance (Spartacus).
