Following the exciting rumors that The Avengers and Avengers: Age of Ultron director Joss Whedon will be writing, producing, and directing a Batgirl movie for the DCEU, Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins has offered her thoughts on the situation.
Speaking to the Toronto Sun, Jenkins enthusiastically stated: “I don’t even know if that deal is done or not – I don’t have the inside scoop on that, but if it is done, then I’m excited about it. I think it’s super exciting, the tone of Joss’ work is great for female superheroes. He takes such a fun approach and I think he’ll have fun in the DC universe, which will be excited to have him.”

Although Whedon has proven he is capable of directing big-budget superhero blockbusters, he is of course also revered for creating strong female characters, and so there is sure to be plenty of interest in his Batgirl project.
Before she was Wonder Woman, she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on a sheltered island paradise, when an American pilot crashes on their shores and tells of a massive conflict raging in the outside world, Diana leaves her home, convinced she can stop the threat. Fighting alongside man in a war to end all wars, Diana will discover her full powers…and her true destiny.
Wonder Woman will hit cinemas on June 2nd, with Patty Jenkins (Monster) directing a cast that includes Gal Gadot (Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice), Chris Pine (Star Trek), Connie Nielsen (Gladiator), Robin Wright (House of Cards), Danny Huston (X-Men Origins: Wolverine), David Thewlis (The Theory of Everything), Ewen Bremner (Snowpiercer), Said Taghmaoui (American Hustle), Elena Anaya (The Skin I Live In), Lisa Loven Kongsli (Force Majeure), Lucy Davis (Shaun of the Dead) and Ann Wolf.
