Woody Harrelson seems like he is to return as Cletus Kasady in the upcoming Sony sequel, Venom 2, which may not be much of a surprise after his short cameo appearance during the post-credits scene of the first film.
Venom 2 cinematographer Robert Richardson, in an interview with Collider, was discussing why he joined the sequel and dropped the news that Harrelson appears to be returning as Kasady.
“I think it’s unexplored yet, and it’s going to explode, and this film, I think, will help it explode, because you have a remarkable central character with Venom, but now you’ve got Woody Harrelson, who’s going to obviously make his own little entrance here, and we’ll see what else comes in with the Sony Marvel collaboration. I look forward to it. It’s a massive change for me, but I’m excited. I think Tom Hardy is one of our best. He never misses. I so look forward to sitting with him and watching him perform.”
Although, this isn’t an official confirmation by Richardson, it does seems like he has some knowledge of backstage negotiations and production on Venom 2 with his comments such as the character making “his own little entrance.”

For anyone unaware, Cletus Kasady is an imprisoned serial killer who becomes the host for the dangerous, blood-thirsty symbiote Carnage, who is often depicted as the offspring of the symbiote Venom.
Venom 2 is set to be directed by Andy Serkis and co-written by Kelly Marcel and Tom Hardy (who is also portraying Eddie Brock/Venom). The film is being produced by Avi Arad, Kelly Marcel, Amy Pascal, and Matt Tolmach. Michelle Williams is also returning in the role of Anne Weying, Eddie’s ex-girlfriend.
