Work underway on script for Nobody sequel

June 21, 2021 by Gary Collinson

Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul star Bob Odenkirk scored a critical and commercial success this year with Nobody, an action-thriller from the pen of John Wick creator Derek Kolstad and directed by Ilya Naishuller (Hardcore Henry).

Produced on a budget of just $16 million, Nobody grossed over $60 million at the global box office during its pandemic release, and given the prospect of the film finding an ever bigger audience on home video, it seems that Naishuller and Kolstad are turning their attention to the future.

Speaking to Joblo for the home entertainment release, Naishuller has revealed that plans are already in motion for a sequel, stating that: “There’s plenty of stories that can be told in this world, with the character Hutch. I know that Derek has begun work on the sequel. Whether it’ll happen, time will tell, but all the necessary seeds have been planted.”

When two thieves break into his suburban home one night, Hutch declines to defend himself or his family, hoping to prevent serious violence. His teenage son, Blake (Gage Munroe, The Shack), is disappointed in him and his wife, Becca (Connie Nielsen, Wonder Woman), seems to pull only further away.

The aftermath of the incident strikes a match to Hutch’s long-simmering rage, triggering dormant instincts and propelling him on a brutal path that will surface dark secrets and lethal skills. In a barrage of fists, gunfire and squealing tires, Hutch must save his family from a dangerous adversary (famed Russian actor Alexey Serebryakov, Amazon’s McMafia)—and ensure that he will never be underestimated as a nobody again.
