Liam Hoofe with his predictions for WWE’s upcoming Super ShowDown event…
This coming Friday the WWE will make their return to Saudi Arabia for the third time in just over 12 months.
The company’s deal with the company has proven to be incredibly controversial, and the company has stayed away from advertising the event as much as they have done the previous two.
The event could not have come at a worse time for the WWE either, with AEW breathing down their necks after knocking it out of the park with their debut show, Double Or Nothing, earlier this month.
Finn Balor Vs Andrade – Intercontinental Championship
This match, if given the right amount of time, has the potential to steal the entire show on Friday evening, whether it will be given that time or not, however, is a different matter.
The Intercontinental Championship, and its champion, Finn Balor, have been nothing more than an afterthought in recent weeks and this match has received very little build outside of a brief battle on the go-home episode of SmackDown.
Andrade should get the chance to get his hands on a title soon, but given the fact that Balor is going to be working this match as The Demon, you can rule that out of happening on Friday night.
Prediction: Finn Balor retains
Lars Sullivan Vs The Luchas House Party
So how does Vince McMahon deal with a wrestler’s xenophobic past being made public? He has him squash three Mexicans in one of the most controversial countries in the world. Good stuff.
Prediction: Lars Sullivan wins
Bobby Lashley Vs Braun Strowman
Two of the most wasted and badly booked talents will clash in the ring on Friday in a match that pretty much no member of the WWE Universe cares about.
Strowman probably needs the win more here. Lashley is a total lost cause at this point.
Winner: Braun Strowman
Randy Orton Vs Triple H
Sometimes it feels as though the WWE has forgotten what year it is, and never more so is that the case than when they rock up in Saudi Arabia.
Over 10 years after they main-evented WrestleMania together, Randy Orton and Triple H will meet in the ring once again at Super ShowDown, marking Triple H’s third straight appearance on a Saudi Arabia card.
The result really isn’t that relative, but given that Triple H picked up a win against Batista at Mania, and Randy Orton could do with a little momentum after coming out on the losing end of his last notable feud, so he will probably take this one.
Prediction: Randy Orton wins
The Undertaker Vs Goldberg
While there is certainly a degree of novelty to this match, given the fact that the two men have never faced each other before, the reality is that there is little to no chance that two performers with a combined age of 106 will be able to pull anything decent out of the bag if they are required to go any longer than five minutes.
The best approach to this match would be to take a similar approach to the one they took with Goldberg and Lesnar; basically just having the two men come flying out of the gates and hit a series of power moves.
That style is not really the kind of thing Taker does in the ring though, so expect a slow, plodding affair that goes much longer than it should.
The result makes very little difference but if the WWE wants to extend this feud, which they may well do, then giving Goldberg the win would make the most sense.
Prediction: Goldberg wins
