Wyatt Russell joins Steven Spielberg’s UFO event movie

December 10, 2024 by Gary Collinson

Wyatt Russell has become the latest addition to the cast of Steven Spielberg’s currently untitled next movie, joining a starry ensemble that includes Emily Blunt, Josh O’Connor, Colman Domingo, Colin Firth and Eve Hewson.

Plot and character details are being kept tightly under wraps for the film, which is  described as an “event movie” and is based on a script by David Koepp (Jurassic Park, War of the Worlds, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull) from an original idea by Spielberg. Although unconfirmed, the story is reportedly centred on UFOs, or UAPs (unidentified anomalous phenomenon) as they are now officially termed.

Wyatt Russell is perhaps best known for his Marvel Cinematic Universe role as John Walker / US Agent, a part he originated in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and reprises for May’s Thunderbolts+. His other recent credits include the Blumhouse horror Night Swim and Apple TV+ series Monarch: Legacy of Monsters.

Spielberg’s new project is set for release via Universal Pictures on May 15th 2026, with filming expected to get underway in February.
