According to Deadline, Amber Midthunder is the latest addition to the cast of FX’s Legion, an upcoming TV series set in the X-Men universe. The actress has joined the project to play Kerry, “a woman of action with a childlike sense of wonder.” The article also describes her as “a true savant,” who has lived a “sheltered, but never dull life.”
Midthunder has several acting credits to her name, including appearances in such films and TV shows as Sunshine Cleaning, Banshee and Longmire.
Legion is one of two X-Men TV shows currently in development; while Legion was ordered by FX, the other series, Hellfire, will be heading to Fox in the near future.
Legion tells the story of X-Men founder Charles Xavier’s mutant son, David Haller. Struggling with mental illness (specifically schizophrenia) since he was a teenager, Haller is ready to give up on “finding his way back to sanity.” However, when he meets “the girl of his dreams,” he decides to keep on fighting and realizes that the voices and visions he hears and sees may actually be real.
Noah Hawley, who worked with FX on the critically acclaimed series Fargo, is once again teaming up with the network for Legion, which will star Dan Stevens (The Guest) as David Haller, Aubrey Plaza (Dirty Grandpa) as Lenny, Jeremie Harris (A Walk Among the Tombstones) as Ptonomy and Fargo alums Jean Smart (Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce) and Rachel Keller (Hollidaysburg). Production on the show’s pilot is scheduled to begin next month.
