Xbox One ships 10 million units, currently outselling PS4 in the US

November 15, 2014 by Tom Powter

The good news surrounding Xbox One seems to be continually on the up at the moment as Microsoft have announced some nice sales numbers.

Firstly, the console has outsold the PS4 for the last two weeks in the United States. While they’re refusing to actually reveal how many consoles they’ve sold, they have shipped 10 million units to retailers. It’s still a far cry from the PS4’s 13.5 million sold, but it’s an impressive number all the same. In fact, it took the Xbox 360 1.5 years to reach that same goal – the Xbox One isn’t even a year old yet.

Knocking $50 off of the price point over the Christmas period seems to have worked wonders as well, as Xbox One sales have apparently tripled.

Speaking on Xbox Wire, Yusuf Medhi, Corporate Vice President of Devices and Studios at Microsoft, said: “The response to this wave of blockbuster game releases and new bundles has been amazing, and sales have skyrocketed since the new price took effect on Nov. 2. Compared to the previous week, Xbox One sales in the US have more than tripled, which is exciting as more and more friends will be playing together this holiday.”

Traditionally, Xbox has always led over Playstation in the United States, at least during the last generation, so it’ll be interesting to see how long they can keep this lead up for.
