After more than a decade in development, the adaptation of Brian K. Vaughan’s acclaimed comic book series Y: The Last Man took a major step forward in November when it was announced that Michael Green (American Gods, Logan) signed on as showrunner, and now we have a brief update on its status.
“We’re supposed to get a script in the next couple months,” FX’s President of Original Programming Nick Gad told IGN at the Television Critics Association winter press tour. “It’s going to be an ongoing series.”
Y: The Last Man ran for 60 issues between 2002 and 2008 and follows escape artist Yorick Brown and his pet monkey Ampersand, the last two surviving males on Earth after a mysterious plague wipes out the world’s male chromosomes.
Green is currently working on the script for Y: The Last Man alongside Vaughan, while Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson are set to produce the series.
